What can you do with Visio Professional 2019?
Visio turns processes and systems into clear, professional diagrams. You drag shapes from stencils onto the page, and connectors stay attached when you move things around, so reorganising a large flowchart takes seconds.
The Professional edition adds technical templates such as UML, BPMN and database diagrams, and can link shapes to data so that values and colours update from sources like Excel. Diagrams export to PDF, PNG or SVG for sharing.
New in Visio 2019: starter diagrams for org charts, brainstorming and SDL templates, and website templates for quick wireframes.
Do I need Visio Professional, or is Visio Standard enough?
Visio Standard covers everyday business diagrams such as flowcharts, org charts and timelines. Choose Professional if you need technical templates, diagrams linked to live data, or to work on the same diagram with colleagues.

Visio Plan 1 works only in a web browser and has no desktop app. If you want the desktop app without a subscription, Visio Professional is the edition that covers the most ground.
What are the system requirements for Visio Professional 2019?
Visio Professional 2019 needs a Windows 11 PC with a 1.1 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 4 GB of free disk space. Microsoft lists the same minimums for the whole Office 2019 family, including Visio and Project. There's no Mac version of Visio.

Is Visio Professional 2019 still supported?
No. Microsoft ended support for Visio Professional 2019 on 14 October 2025, together with the rest of Office 2019. The app still installs, activates and works, but it no longer receives security updates.
It can still make sense for offline PCs or to match an existing setup. For a supported version, we suggest Visio Professional 2024, which Microsoft supports until 9 October 2029.
How do I install and activate Visio Professional 2019?
Download Visio with the link in your order email, install it, then enter your 25-character product key when Visio asks for it. Remove other Visio versions first, because leftover installs are the most common reason setup or activation fails.
- Uninstall any older version of Visio from Settings → Apps.
- Download Visio Professional 2019 using the link in your order email.
- Run the installer and wait until it finishes.
- Open Visio and enter the product key from your email when asked.
- Check File → Account: it should show “Product Activated”.
A common problem we see is setup stopping because of other Office software on the PC. Visio can be installed next to Office, including Microsoft 365 Apps, but both must use Click-to-Run and the same 32-bit or 64-bit edition. Remove older MSI-based installs, such as Office 2016 or Visio 2016, before you start.
Frequently asked questions
Does Visio Professional 2019 work on a Mac?
No. The Visio desktop app is Windows-only. On a Mac you can run Windows in a virtual machine with its own licence, or use Visio in a web browser, which comes with some Microsoft 365 business plans and Visio subscriptions.
Can I still use Visio Professional 2019 now that support has ended?
Yes. The app installs, activates and works as before. Since 14 October 2025, though, Microsoft no longer releases security updates for it, so it's best for offline or low-risk use. For a supported version, choose Visio Professional 2024, which gets updates until 9 October 2029.
Can I move Visio to a new PC later?
This key is for one PC. If you replace your computer, contact our support team with your order number before you uninstall from the old PC. Whether a transfer is possible depends on the licence type, so it's best to ask first.
Can Visio Professional 2019 open diagrams from older Visio versions?
Yes. Visio Professional 2019 opens .vsdx files from Visio 2013 and later as well as older .vsd files. You can also export diagrams as PDF, PNG or SVG, so colleagues without Visio can still view them.
