How long will Excel 2024 get security updates?
Microsoft supports Excel 2024 until 9 October 2029. Until then it receives security and quality updates through Microsoft Update, but no new features.
Microsoft doesn't offer extended support for the 2024 release, so 9 October 2029 is the final date for fixes. After that, the app keeps working without further updates.
How do I install and activate Excel 2024?
Download Excel with the link in your order email, install it, then enter your 25-character product key when Excel asks for it. Remove other Excel versions first, because leftover installs are the most common reason setup or activation fails.
- Uninstall any other version of Excel, or an Office suite that includes it, from Settings → Apps.
- Download Excel 2024 using the link in your order email.
- Run the installer and wait until it finishes.
- Open Excel and enter the product key from your email when asked.
- Check File → Account: it should show “Product Activated”.
A common problem we see is a clash with Office that's already on the PC. Microsoft doesn't support two Click-to-Run installations that contain the same app, so Excel 2024 can't sit next to Microsoft 365 or another Office version that already includes Excel. An older MSI-based install such as Office 2016 can also block setup, so remove it first.

Yes. XLOOKUP, XMATCH, LET and dynamic array functions such as FILTER, SORT and UNIQUE are all included. Excel 2024 adds newer text and array functions such as TEXTSPLIT and VSTACK, plus the IMAGE function for pictures inside cells.
Will Excel 2024 get new features?
No. Excel 2024 is a fixed release: Microsoft provides security and quality updates until 9 October 2029 but doesn't add new features. If you want new features as soon as they're released, a subscription such as Microsoft 365 is the alternative.
Can I move Excel to a new PC later?
